Paid Themes

Some map objects come in themes that are sold separately as in-app purchases: Graffiti, Hatchet Corp, Paintball, Wild West and Corrupted Technology.

The Manager app can host a map built with any theme, and every headset in the match can play it, whether or not that headset owns the theme. This holds for maps your organization built and for maps downloaded from the Online Map Library.

The Manager has to be the host. When a headset hosts the match itself, objects from themes that headset does not own are left out of the match.

Building and editing maps with paid themes

Section titled “Building and editing maps with paid themes”

Owning a theme matters when you edit a map. Your organization only needs to buy a theme once, on one headset, and do its map editing there.

  1. On one headset, buy the themes you want to use.
  2. On that same headset, build the map in the Map Editor using the theme objects, then save it.
  3. The map syncs to your organization’s map list (see Maps Management).
  4. Host the map from the Manager app. All of your organization’s headsets can play it.

A headset that does not own a theme can still open a map that uses it, and the theme’s objects show a lock. When you save, the headset asks you either to buy the missing themes or to remove those objects from the map.

This applies to maps from the Online Map Library too. A downloaded map has to be edited and saved before you can play it, to set up Spatial Markers for your space. Do that on a headset that owns every theme the map uses, or the paid objects will have to be removed.
